Spaghetti with meatballs in marinara sauce @ Delflyn's Kitchen


A taste of comfort in every bite! This spaghetti and meatball dish is simple and delicious. Tender meatballs, rich marinara sauce and perfectly cooked spaghetti come together in a satisfying meal that's sure to become a family favorite. 
Get ready to twirl your fork and indulge in a delicious Italian classic.

  Ingredients for the meatballs 

1/2 Kg minced chicken or minced beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 large egg 
1/4 cup grated cheese of your choice
4 cloves of minced garlic
1 chopped onion
2 tbsp of finely chopped parsley (optional)
salt and pepper to taste 

Method to make the meatballs
  1. Prepare the Meatball Mix:

    In a large bowl, combine minced meat, chopped onion, garlic, parsley, breadcrumbs, cheese, egg. Add salt and pepper. Mix everything gently using your hands or a spoon until well combined. If the mixture feels too dry, add a tablespoon or two of milk.

  2. Shape the Meatballs:

    Scoop small portions of the mixture and roll them into balls (about the size of a golf ball or smaller, as per your preference). Cook the meatballs in a saucepan as shown below.


Ingredients for Marinara Sauce

2 cups blanched and pureed tomatoes 

2 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil 

4 cloves of garlic minced

1tsp dried oregano or italian seasoning

salt and pepper to taste 

Method to blanch and puree the tomatoes

  1. Bring  a large pot of water to a boil. Remove the green calyx of the tomatoes .
  2. Score the bottom of each tomato with a X.
  3. Drop tomatoes into the boiling water for 10 to 15 sec.
  4. Remove and immediately plunge it into an ice bath as shown below.
  5. Peel off the skin ,starting from the scored end .
  6. Blend peeled tomatoes in a blender until smooth.
  7. Strain and remove the seeds.

  

   Method to make the marinara sauce                                                                                   

  1. Heat oil in a sauce pan 
  2. Saute minced garlic until light brown in colour ,add the tomato puree ,salt and dried oregano .

Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes ,stirring occasionally .This fresh marinara sauce will have a rich flavour .


How to Combine Meatballs with Marinara Sauce

  1. Add the Meatballs:

    • Once your meatballs are cooked gently transfer them into the simmering marinara sauce using a spoon or tongs.

    • Be careful not to break them while placing them into the sauce.

  2. Simmer Together:

    • Reduce the heat to low.Let the meatballs simmer in the sauce for 10–15minutes, uncovered or partially covered. This allows the meatballs to absorb the sauce flavors while also releasing their juices into the sauce, making it rich.

Cook the spaghetti

Boil water in a large bowl . When it comes to a boil , add salt and the spaghetti.

When the spaghetti is cooked ,drain the water and transfer the spaghetti in a serving bowl.


Serve the spaghetti hot, smothered in rich marinara sauce and generously topped with tender meatballs .
